Nancy Krasne was raised in Los Angeles, graduating from University High School and UCLA. She went on to teach elementary school for eighteen years in the L.A. Unified School District.
A 30-year Beverly Hills resident, Nancy is a dynamic community leader who has devoted much of her public life to community service. She served as Vice Chair and Chair on the Architectural Commission for seven years.
In 2003, she was appointed to the Beverly Hills Planning Commission, where she developed an in depth knowledge of land use, infrastructure and development issues.
After four years on the Planning Commission, Nancy ran for City Council in 2007 to have a more direct impact on critical infrastructure and development issues from a residential point of view. She is seeking a second term on the City Council to complete the important work she has begun in her first term on ethics reform, infrastructure improvements, and improved City services, including education and public safety.
Nancy has served as a board member of the Friends of Greystone and the National Council of Jewish Women, the Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic and was a member of LACMA Costume Council.
She is a proven leader with courage and vision.
Nancy and her husband Jim, a lifelong Beverly Hills resident, have been married for 47 years. They have two sons, Kevin & David. (L and R above.) When not serving her community, Nancy enjoys cooking, collecting Japanese and contemporary art, traveling and spending time with her family. She also enjoys many philanthropic activities for The Salvation Army and The City of Hope.
